Golf Tips

Alignment can be a big problem for many golfers. Many people don’t realize how eye dominance can affect how we line up to a target. When you address the ball standing parallel to the target line you may actually be lined up incorrectly. Depending on which eye is dominant, your alignment may be off in either direction. This can be fixed by always lining up your shot from behind the ball. When hitting from the tee or fairway, pick a spot a few feet from your ball, down the target line. While putting or chipping, select a spot within a foot or two of your ball. Next you address the ball aiming over the chosen spot on the ground. Hitting the ball over this closer target will help assure the player of correct alignment through the shot. Correcting one of the fundamental elements of the golf swing can help make your game a success.

John Wieland Homes recently purchased the Dunes West Golf Club from Scratch Golf Company. John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods has won numerous home building awards and was recently voted the 2005 Best Builder of the Year for his designs and attention to detail and quality. He has secured the services of Affiniti Golf Partners based in Atlanta, Georgia, to manage the entire facility. Affiniti Golf currently manages eight courses in the southeast, including two in Atlanta for Wieland Homes.

With the support of the community Dunes West Golf club will undergo some exciting changes in the near future. This summer all 56 sand bunkers will be rebuilt along with planning for upgrades to the clubhouse to include new decor and a possible new addition. "It’s one of the very best golf experiences in the southeast," said Steve Willy, a partner with Affiniti. "After these improvements, it will go from good to great."

Wieland Homes currently is building the remaining 800 homes at Dunes West. When complete, the community will consist of 2500 properties, ranging in price from $300,000 to well over $1 million.

John Wieland and the entire staff of Dunes West Golf Club would like to invite you to visit the golf course and see why so many golfers enjoy playing at the Dunes West Golf Club.
