Golf Tips

Listen to make more putts.
I was at the Masters in 1996 and it was late in the evening, and Nick Faldo was practicing 8-10 footers. He was working on something that many golfers can benefit from. Here is how it works. Take a few golf balls and put them in a circle approximately five feet away from the cup. See if you can listen for the ball to fall into the hole. It is harder than you think. Try to swing the club back and forth the same distance this will help control how far the ball will roll.

Charleston Area Marriott Hotels to raise funds for MUSC Children's Hospital

Marriot Business Council to host Second Annual Golf Tournament

Charleston, SC, (July 5, 2007) - With so many philanthropies to pick from, how does one connect hotels to children's health care? It's a simple desire of the Marriott Business Council comprised of the Charleston Marriott Hotel, Renaissance Downtown, Courtyard by Marriott, Springhill Suites, Fairfield Inn and Residence Inn to give back to a community known throughout the nation for being caring and hospitable to others. At 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at RiverTowne Country Club, golfers, enthusiasts and supporters of the MUSC Children's Hospital gathered to raise funds in order to further MUSC's ability to fund important patient care, education and research programs. "Being in the hospitality business and providing customers with great lodging is only part of who we are. We also want to extend that feeling of hospitality and caring attitude to the children of this area who desperately need new programs and new treatment at MUSC Children's Hospital" said John Wong, General Manager of the Charleston Marriott. To participate in the tournament, supporters were asked to donate $125 per person to play, or $500 per foursome. Questions about participation, payment or additional information can be obtained by calling 720-0837.
