Golf Tips

Most golfers, men and women alike, tend to hit a slice. The most common cause of a slice is a lack of clubface rotation through the ball at impact. This opening or holding back of the clubface puts a clockwise rotation on the ball and causes the sometimes-dramatic curve to the right. To correct your slice you first must learn to hit the anti-slice (a.k.a. a hook). Feel the toe of the club pass the heel through impact and the ball will move from right to left. An excellent drill to feel this release of the clubhead and your arms is to set up as if the ball were teed up three feet off the ground. Make a few swooshing swings and begin to sense how your right arm crosses over the left naturally. Gradually lower the bottom of the swing until you are making swings at ground height. If you can get this rotational swing to happen through the ball, Kiss Your Slice Goodbye!

NOISY OYSTER SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
INTRODUCES FIRST ANNUAL NOISY OYSTER GOLF TOURNAMENT

BENEFITING MAGDALENE HOUSE OF CHARLESTON

OCTOBER 14

Charleston, South Carolina—First Annual Noisy Oyster Golf Tournament benefiting the Magdalene House of Charleston will take place on October 14, 2007 at the Golf Club at Wescott Plantation in North Charleston. Registration forms for the golf tournament will be available at all Noisy Oyster Seafood Restaurants located in downtown Charleston, North Charleston and Summerville. The tournament starts at 12:00pm and will be followed by a thank you party for the participants.

Magdalene House is a two year residential program and out reach program for women released from a correctional facility or those who come to Magdalene House from the streets. Magdalene House of Charleston was founded with the support of Wade Boals and Brett Yearout of Noisy Oyster Seafood Restaurant. It is a safe place for women who would otherwise be trapped in the cycle of prostitution, addiction and abuse. The program provides housing, counseling and other vital support services to help change lives.

The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation, North Charleston's premier golf facility was developed keeping the richest traditions of Lowcountry golf. The 27-hole course was designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan with an attempt to capture the old traditional flavor of low flowing earthworks, classic bunkering, and each hole separated and framed by the vegetation.

Entry fee for the tournament is $100 per person. Raffle tickets will be sold at Noisy Oyster Seafood Restaurants beginning September 3, 2007. Kurt Charland, contact person for the registration, can be reached at 843-478-0887.

Established by longtime friends and current owners, Wade Boals and Brett Yearout, Noisy Oyster Seafood Restaurant has three locations in the Charleston area—Historic Downtown Charleston, North Charleston and Summerville. The restaurant is opened for lunch Monday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Dinner hours run from 4-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Sunday, and until 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
